X-Raid

The Team:

Sven Quandt founded X-raid in 2002 at the team's base in Trebur, Germany. X-raid first campaigned in the Cross Country arena using the BMW X5. The car was developed extensively with the team becoming the first diesel car to win a stage on the Dakar in 2003 with Luc Alphand, later in that year the team placed 1st, 2nd and 4th at the Spanish Baja and 3rd at the UAE Desert challenge.

In 2004, the team won two stages on the Dakar finishing 4th and 8th. In 2004, X-raid with Khalifa Al-Mutawei became the first Diesel Powered car to win the FIA World Cup for Cross Country vehicles.

In 2005 the team finished 9th on the Dakar with Jose Luis Monterde. In 2005, X-raid won the Portuguese TT Championship with Miguel Barbosa. Work commenced on the new X3 in February 2005 and the first car was completed in July.

X-raid is a multinational team with no fewer that 14 Nationalities on the 2007 Dakar. This diversity brings the team its strength. The team has in house specialists including Drive-train, Suspension, Electrical and Construction as well as a significant logistics section with the latest MAN trucks and electronic parts systems.

The Dakar 2007 was a coming out year for the X3 after extensive testing and development the X3CC showed it was more than competitive enough and if it were not for the driver penalties a podium place was possible.

In 2007 X-raid continued to develop the car, with both the team cars and customer car securing multiple top three positions.

2008 has been the most successful year for X-raid. Nasser Al-Attiyah and Tina Thörner won both the Cross Country World Cup and the World Cup for Baja's. In the Baja Cup Nasser won all the 4 races where he participated. Filipe Campos won both the Portuguese and Spanish Championships with a comfortable lead before the second in the championship..
